I get consulted about absolutely everything – from overexcitement, to training dogs for function (services that the owners want; compression therapy is a big one recently), to obeying commands (a lot of owners can get dogs to follow simple commands but have trouble when moving on to more advance communication). Really, the best bet here is to reach out to me directly and I’ll certainly let you know if I can help you meet your goals or not. Ultimately, I want everyone to be happy.
What are your goals? What type of service are you hoping for your dog to deliver? Do you just want your dog to behave better around people, or do you want it to be better at following your commands? The best dog training ultimately depends on your needs, but that’s why I offer a free preliminary 30-minute consultation to all my potential new clients.
So, the quick answer is yes, though there are a lot of variables here. Some dogs grow more rebellious as they mature from puppies (into their “teenage” phase). Another variable is how your dog was trained, as well as what you’ve been doing since my training. That said, when it comes to a matter of service dogs, where function is not only priority, but in some cases vital, I equip both dogs and owners with everything they need for continued success.
You can start training your puppy on day 1! Puppy ownership begins with potty training and engagement. As they get older, they’ll need socialization, leash walking, and basic obedience.
I recommend contacting me for private lessons if your puppy is under 6 months of age. If over 6 months old, your baby is a great candidate for a board and train session - where I can instill positive foundational behavior that will follow (with your continued training) on to your pup’s adult life.
